Thriantas

Thriantas have a long and complicated history

The breed began in Holland in the 1930s and almost didn't survive due to the difficulties of WWII. It is truly humbling to think that people living through such troubling times could work to keep an infant rabbit breed alive. It took another 60 years before Thriantas traveled to the Americas. It wasn't until 2005, however, that Thriantas were approved by the ARBA (The first breed to be approved since Jersey Woolies were approved in 1988). They quickly grew in popularity due to their charming personalities, modest size, and fiery red coats. Unfortunately, that popularity was short lived and finding people to breed or show Thriantas can be difficult. We currently have one buck and two does that we show and will start to breed soon. We will also add another buck and doe in the summer of 2023. These are truly phenomenal rabbits and great for beginners. They have an easy care, rollback coat and are very affectionate. They really are the Fire of the Fancy!
